Big Kid Classes are HERE!

We are thrilled to be offering Voice & Percussion for 4-7s and Ukulele for 7-10s! Please join us for this two week pilot program designed and taught by Mary Knapp and Tyler Kaneshiro! With enough interest, we will extend these introductory workshops into multi-week courses!

Voice & percussion workshop for 4-7 year olds.
Mondays May 7 and May 14 at 5:15 - 6:15pm, $60

Those who have graduated from Music Together will enjoy this workshop which builds on similar principles of voice and movement. We’ll take children through the basics of singing simple and fun melodies while tapping out rhythms using our hands, bodies and a variety of percussion instruments.

Ukulele workshop for 7-10 year olds
Mondays May 9 and May 16 at 5:15 - 6:15pm, $60

For slightly older kids eager to begin learning an instrument, the ukulele is fun, accesible and appropriate for a range of ages! We will learn fingerings of basic chords and strumming patterns. As confidence grows we will incorporate sing-alongs of favorite tunes.

Mary Knapp is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, actor, certified teacher of Music Together LLC and private instructor for voice, accordion and piano. She made her Broadway debut last year in Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 and performs regularly in NYC with her 4-piece cabaret soul band Toot Sweet (with Tyler!) and Colombian dance band Cumbia River Band. Mary started teaching music together 3 years ago and is very excited to now be designing her own program for children!

Tyler Kaneshiro is a multi-instrumentalist (mainly piano and trumpet), composer, and educator. He has taught pre-kindergarten – high school students in both classical and jazz styles. He is also annually invited to teach at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University. Along with freelancing around the city, Tyler is a member of Mary’s 4-piece cabaret soul band, Toot Sweet. He believes that a quality music education not only has the ability to provide the world with culture and appreciation for music, but he also believes it creates better people, something this world always needs. He is very excited for the opportunity to teach and inspire the next generation!
