Starting March 24th

Tuesdays at 3:30 for ages 4-7

This process oriented class is geared towards 4 to 7 year olds, developing their art making skills through projects in painting, drawing, and collage. We will focus on color and shape through abstract painting, advance students’ figurative drawing by composing pictures both from their imagination and observation, and explore texture and pattern through collage making. We will incorporate play in to our practice by drawing with flashlights, supplying sound effects to our paintings, and making collaborative art works. This fun, supportive environment nurtures children’s creative expression, improves their fine motor skills, and provides an opportunity to engage in imaginative art making in a small group setting.

4:30 for ages 18 months-4

This process oriented art class is geared towards pre-school age children, engaging their senses and challenging their fine motor skills. In each class we experiment with a wide range of art materials, try different art techniques, and discuss color. Many pre-schoolers love to paint and paint we will. We’ll also try our hand at collage making with paper and fabric, printmaking with a variety of household items, and sculpting with clay and cardboard. And there will be glitter! This fun, supportive environment nurtures children’s creative expression, builds their ability to focus, and provides an opportunity to engage in art play alongside others.

Paints, crayons and pastels. Cardboard, tissue paper and string! Fabric and lace and macaroni and glue guns! What can you make? What inspires you? Your 2 year old? Your 5, or 7 year old? Your Mother in law? This is free art play at its best. We’ll put the plastic on the floor and we’ll clean up the mess. Make a mural, a mobile, a collage, or just watch your kid create an entire city with a bottle of Elmers glue. She can see it, you know she can.

What’s that gee-tar doing gathering dust in the closet? Didn’t you make that resolution a whole year ago to learn some of those kid’s songs so you could play ‘em right to your own? Here’s your chance… This group guitar class is for the absolute beginner. We’ll get you around the basic chords so that you’re confidently making the music that you’ve been hearing for months on those kid’s cd’s. Perfect for fun play, family sing alongs, and soothing nighttime lullabies. Don’t worry, we’ll show you ‘Smoke on the Water’ too. It can’t be all about the kids, right?  $175 (six group sessions)

Music Together®
(mixed-age classes, newborns to 4 yrs. click
here to find out more!)

Classes begin March 23rd.

This is the essential Music Together class, one that a child can attend from birth through age four through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience.
