What’s that gee-tar doing gathering dust in the closet? Didn’t you make that resolution a whole year ago to learn some of those kid’s songs so you could play ‘em right to your own? Here’s your chance… This group guitar class is for the absolute beginner. We’ll get you around the basic chords so that you’re confidently making the music that you’ve been hearing for months on those kid’s cd’s. Perfect for fun play, family sing alongs, and soothing nighttime lullabies. Don’t worry, we’ll show you ‘Smoke on the Water’ too. It can’t be all about the kids, right?  $150 (six group sessions)

Music Together®
(mixed-age classes, newborns to 4 yrs. click
here to find out more!)

Classes begin March 24th

This is the essential Music Together class, one that a child can attend from birth through age four through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience.

YOGA- Hootenanny’s imaginative yoga adventures and animated poses keep little yogis’ creativity and bodies flowing. Themed classes enhance children’s concentration skills, refine motor coordination and improve socialization while kids learn about the wonders of their body. Fun yoga games teach cooperative play and sharpen listening skills. Kids yoga will plant the seed for a life-long love of physical and mental well-being.

DANCE - An explorational and energetic dance movement class for caregivers and toddlers. The instructor invokes imagery from nature incorporating  world music and props to create a magical dance experience that nurtures young children's natural love of movement and play. Your child will dance and play in a stimulating atmosphere and develop all their senses, gross motor skills, and rhythm. This class offers a nurturing time and place for you to bond with your child as well as make new friends in a playful and safe environment. Having the freedom to move at their own pace, both adult and child will have an opportunity for fun and engaging physical exercise.

Hooten-Write: A Creative Writing Workshop for Grown-Ups (WITH…CHILD CARE?!?)

with Mariko Beck

Are you looking to jumpstart your writing? Do you have a half-finished memoir or novel taking up space on your hard drive? Would you join a community of writers if only you had childcare? Then this course—open to fiction and creative non-fiction writers of all levels—is for you. Through short writing prompts and readings, we’ll review the key elements of great writing, including narrative strategies, dialogue, and character development. We’ll share feedback on each other’s work in a safe, supportive environment. Even better, we’ll provide the childcare!

While you sharpen your storytelling skills, your little ones will be entertained in the next room. Our flexible format is designed with parents in mind, so it’s OK to tend to your tots as needed. Whether your goal is to preserve memories or publish, come write with us!

Workshop runs Fridays at Hoot from 12:30-1:45pm.

April 11th-June 13th (skipping April 18th).
