This workshop will explore fun and artistic ways to express feelings, hopes and dreams. Group will begin with playful relaxation exercises & guided imagery, culminating in the creation of collaborative Dream Catchers!

Families will work together to create their own large scale dreamcatchers. A wide variety of strings, beads and other vibrant tactile materials will be explored. Families encouraged to bring in small symbolic trinkets from home to add to their dream catchers. Families will have the opportunity to explore hopes and dreams for the future together. Dream Catchers will be created in a non-traditional platform, no experience or understanding of weaving necessary. Every family will leave with a fun take away art piece for hanging indoors or out. Get ready to have a dreamy experience! $24

CANCELLED Pop Up Art: Keith Haring Feelings and Mural Making!

Keith Haring, Feelings and Mural Making with Art Therapist, Melissa Diaz of www.openhousebrooklyn.com

This class will focus on the bright and bold works of artist, Keith Haring. Group will become acquainted with Haring’s work and learn about symbolism. We will explore how drawing can be a simple and easy way to convey ideas and feelings. Class will begin with viewing several of Keith Haring’s works, playfully replicating them through movement and discussing intent. Group will then be invited to create life size works with use of body tracing. Creating mural works in similar style to those of Haring’s, emphasis will be put on use of bold line and movement. Group will be encouraged to pose in a position based on how they are feeling. Body tracing works will explore conveying feelings through art making, matching colors with feelings. $24

We can't actually believe this one ourselves... Our next Live "HOUSE OF SONG" performance will be over BRUNCH at PORK SLOPE. Pete and the band will set up at the back of the house, you will be ordering Bloody Mary's, Chicken and Waffles, Pancakes, perhaps Tater Tots... We have the entire place to ourselves and room for about 25 House of Song, Brunch loving families. You probably want to skip to the TICKETS button without further ado, but here's the rest of the details... Tickets are for entry and the show, $25 a family. Then you order what you like off the Pork Slope Brunch menu and the special event KID'S MENU! Brunch is from 10-12. The show will be at 10:30, if you get there right at 10 you can grab a seat and order, if you come later for the show at 10:30 maybe you'll hit second seating around 11ish. Either way a fabulous time will be had by all!

Pop-up Art: Wiggle and Scribble

Join Art Therapist Melissa Diaz! This workshop will focus on fun and simple movement and mark making. Group will begin with kid friendly breathing exercises and guided imagery followed by large scale drawing based on different types of movement, drawing materials and mind/body connection. Kids will have a chance to explore how movement affects how we feel. Class will focus on relaxation, play, and practice of fine and gross motor skills. Join in for an active way to make your mark!

Mindfullness and Mandala Making for Adults! with Melissa Diaz, LCAT, ATR-BC

Workshop will provide an opportunity for centering, relaxation and meditative art making. We all need a bit of extra self-care during this wintry time, so please join in an evening of calming breathwork, guided imagery and mandala making!

Session will begin with grounding activities followed by a brief introduction of the history of mandalas. The concept of making a mandala will be introduced as a tool for tuning your attention inwards and finding your sacred space to unlocking potential. This workshop will aid in relaxing your mind and body, while enlivening your creativity and self-expression.

No prior art making experience needed at all! A variety of art making materials (drawing, painting & collage) will be provided. A fun and restorative way to begin your week! $20

Open House BK Arts Pop-Up Class

Workshop will explore kid friendly mindfulness and meditative art making. Participants will be lead through playful breathing exercises and guided imagery. A brief  history of mandalas will be introduced, followed by experimenting with patterns, symmetry and color. All activities will offer a fun way for children to learn relaxation techniques and artful centering! Each participant will create their own dynamic work of art to take home!
