We feel strongly that it is a crucial time to stand as a community united for peace and justice, committed to welcoming and protecting people of all colors, genders, religions and sexual orientations. We are also strongly committed to protecting the earth for our children and their children’s children. On Sunday November 13th we raised $1400 for the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, Black Lives Matter, and Standing Rock. We comforted each other and joined together in a spirit of hope and activism. And this is only the beginning.
Our next plan is an entire Week of Action at Hootenanny, from November 28th through December 2nd. We will host a range of activities with ALL the money raised going to the organizations who are ready to protect human rights, civil rights, women's rights, and the environment! On our list so far are ACLU, Planned Parenthood, 350.org and the Southern Poverty Law Center. We hope to also provide a continued place to support and inspire each other with music, art, and dance!
The Week of Action is the week following Thanksgiving, while we are between regular sessions. All events (unless otherwise noted) will be open to all, with a $20 (suggested) donation, and we will fill the house to capacity (we love a full room!). No RSVPs. Apologies in advance if run out of space!
